Dawn’s Diary 2-28-25

Wow! What a spectacular last couple of weeks here at Black Bear Lodge.  All the snowfall and the abundance of guests enjoying every winter activity available to them! And let me tell you, the snow that has fallen the last few weeks is phenomenal! Best ski conditions I’ve seen in years.  The smiles on the faces of every snow sport enthusiast says it all!

Last week was LOADED with skiers and snowboarders spending their winter vacation with us.  I can’t tell you how amazing it is to hear the stories of the slopes and how great it is to come back to Black Bear Lodge, clean up from the day, hit the sauna and/or steam room, go for a swim, and finish the night with a home cooked meal in their rooms! Definitely seems to be a favorite routine here! And there is more snow coming, perfect for some more skiing under the stars Friday 4-8! Saturday there is a Women’s Nordic Clinic starting at 8:30. You can register by going to the events calendar. Also, the 1^st is 2025 Telemark Day

For Telemark skiers from around the world the 1st Saturday in March is a special day, it’s always World Telemark Day (WTD). This international celebration takes place this 2024-25 winter season on Saturday March 1st, 2025 and marks the 11th year since its inception. “There is nothing more exciting for Telemark skiers than to get together and share the turn,” said WTD Founder Josh Madsen. “So I created a de-centralized event for everyone around the world, every year, that both the individual and groups can celebrate at the same time.”

That’s what sets World Telemark Day apart from a normal organized event at a specific location, because it can happen any place you want! Whether you are the only Telemark skier at your local ski area or live in an area where you can meet-up with a group of other like-minded freewheelers WTD is for everyone.

Drumroll please! (insert super sweet drums here) The 2025 Special Olympics Winter Games begin on the 3^rd!!!!!! What a great start to a funtabulous week! Opening Ceremonies on Monday and will conclude with a fireworks display at 7:30!

All these notable events here in Waterville Valley are best enjoyed while staying with us at Black Bear Lodge! (Just my opinion, of course! 😉)
